APPLYING FOR INVESTIGATOR SPONSORED STUDIES
The embecta Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS) program aims to support unsolicited research proposed by independent investigators that examines unique scientific questions or provides new data in diabetes care. embecta is specifically interested in new solutions that make life better for people with diabetes or advance the understanding of embecta products. embecta receives unsolicited proposals from healthcare professionals (HCPs), scientists, and researchers or institutions for ISS.
Concept proposals should align with one of the areas of interest for ISS below:
The impact of insulin infusion devices on the skin will include diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and innovation in adhesive and extended use.
Experience with embecta patch pump among people with type 2 diabetes and HCPs.
Boost engagement with technology by identifying gaps in educational tools and developing novel solutions to enhance self-management and clinical management of people with type 2 diabetes.
Define and develop technological solutions for insulin infusion in people with type 2 diabetes. This could apply to addressing barriers and solutions to accessing insulin infusion technology.
HOW TO SUBMIT A CONCEPT
If you are interested in submitting a concept for an ISS, please complete the ISS concept proposal form, including details about you, the study you are proposing, and the support you request. You must also prepare a short study synopsis using the template provided. The ISS concept proposal form and synopsis template are available here.

The completed ISS concept proposal form and synopsis should be submitted to embecta via email at iss@embecta.com. Please use "Concept ISS Proposal-Your Last Name" as the email's subject.
Please do not provide confidential information. embecta assumes no obligation to protect, retain or hold any confidential information disclosed in any ISS submission prior to a formal written agreement between you and embecta. embecta may be aware of other products or concepts that could impact our decision to move forward with your ISS submission. embecta strives to generate the greatest social and commercial benefit from outside ideas. To protect any intellectual property that might be disclosed to us in an ISS submission, we recommend applying for patent protection prior to submitting your proposal.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOU SUBMIT YOUR CONCEPT
You should receive confirmation of receipt within one week of submission. If you submit an ISS concept proposal and do not receive confirmation of receipt within one week, please follow up with embecta at iss@embecta.com to ensure your submission was received.
The embecta ISS Review Committee will review the proposal to assess its feasibility and alignment with its strategic areas of interest. We aim to inform applicants of the ISS Committee decision regarding the Concept ISS Proposals within 30 days of receipt.
A Full ISS Proposal, including a full protocol and budget, will be requested from applicants whose Concept ISS Proposals are moved forward by the ISS committee. If your proposal is approved to move to the Full ISS Proposal stage, you will be notified by an embecta team member of the specific requirements and next steps.
